World Championship RESULTS

Hello everyone!

Hope you have enjoyed navigating your way around the popular squash websites. South Africa finished 10th overall – not too bad considering we were ranked 13th AND had the world No.4 and No.5 teams were in our pool. Excuses . . . excuses. . . i hear you say!

Personally, I had a successful tournament placing 5 out of 6 wins under my belt. Included in that was a surprise (but well fought for) victory against the World No.22, Annelize Naude from the Netherlands.

Here are those results:

RSA vs MALAYSIA
Played: Deliah Arnold (World No 32)
Lost: 11-8, 14-12, 11-4 in 40 minutes

RSA vs NETHERLANDS
Played: Annelize Naude (World No.22)
Won: 13-11, 12-10, 9-11, 11-5 in 37 minutes

RSA vs GERMANY
Played: Sina Wall (World No.214)
Won: 9-11, 11-4, 11-3, 11-8 in 39 minutes

RSA vs SPAIN
Played: Alicia Alvarez Riaza
Won: 11-4, 11-1, 11-3 in 16 minutes

RSA vs FRANCE
Played: Maud Duplomb (World No.80)
Won: 14-12, 5-11, 12-10, 15-13  in 43 minutes

RSA vs CANADA
Played: Carolyn Russel (World No.100)
Won: 11-5, 11-4, 11-7 in 13 minutes

These results are an indication that when I join the professional circuit (WISPA), a goal to have a ranking that reflects me in the Top 50 in the world at the end of 2009 is more than realistic, more than possible.
